7 Iron Whiff Golf Trip 2022 – Fall Edition – Bandon Dunes

While sitting around during the pandemic in 2020, I discovered the guys from No Laying Up and their web series, Tourist Sauce. That year the NLU guys went out to Bandon Dunes, and for the first time I really got to see what all the hype was about. I had been aware of Bandon Dunes … More 7 Iron Whiff Golf Trip 2022 – Fall Edition – Bandon Dunes

Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club/Mid Pines Inn & Golf

On Black Friday, while everyone was out shopping, I decided to pop down to Southern Pines and play at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club. Such an excellent Donald Ross design that will be hosting the 2022 Women’s U.S. Open. Pretty windy the day I played but a really enjoyable course that would be one … More Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club/Mid Pines Inn & Golf

Some pictures of the local golf that I played this year.  I played a few other courses around here but didn’t take pictures.  I will try and remedy that before the weather turns.  The Preserve at Jordan Lake, Tot Hill Farm Golf Club, Grandover Resort West Course, The Valley Golf Course, Chapel Ridge Golf Club. … More Local (NC) Golf

7 Iron Whiff Golf Trip 2020 – Tacoma, WA/Bend, OR

The 7IWGT 2020 was supposed to happen over Memorial Day.  As you probably guessed, COVID-19 required a postponement.  We scheduled ourselves to go the week after Labor Day.  Things were up in the air until the last minute due to wild fires happening in Oregon.  We decided to go ahead and press on with hopes … More 7 Iron Whiff Golf Trip 2020 – Tacoma, WA/Bend, OR

7 Iron Whiff Golf Trip 2018 – One more time in Scottsdale, AZ

7 Iron Whiff Memorial Day Golf Trip 2016 – Branson

The annual golf trip.  Now forever to be known as the “Seven Iron Whiff Golf Trip”.  Unfortunately, the name comes from something I did on this trip.  It’s a good thing I don’t take myself too seriously. 🙂 Went back to my home state for the golf trip this year.  I flew in a little … More 7 Iron Whiff Memorial Day Golf Trip 2016 – Branson

Sorry Mothers Golf Trip – 2016

Joined up with a new group of guys for an additional golf trip of the year.  Guess I am pretty lucky to get two golf vacations this year.  We played courses located around Pinehurst, NC that included Deercroft Golf Club, 7 Lakes Country Club, Foxfire Golf, Carolina Trace Country Club, and Tobacco Road Golf Club.

London – June 2015

Second stop on the European tour was London.  We stayed at Hotel Mercure in Kensington, which was a great hotel and location.  I was able to get in a fair amount of sight-seeing in two and half days.  Places visited included Buckingham Palace, Tate Modern Museum, Kensington Gardens, The Churchill War Rooms and Trafalgar Square.

Dublin – June 2015

My wife had to go to Europe for work.  I was lucky enough to tag along on this trip.  Our first of three stops was Dublin.  Unfortunately we were only there for about a day and a half, but I was able to get in plenty of sight-seeing.  Places we visited and/or ate were Guinness Brewery, … More Dublin – June 2015

Our Kids

In 2004 we were adopted by two barn cats.  Named Jasper and Pete, they have been with us for the last 8 years.  As anyone who has owned cats knows, these two don’t know that they’re cats either.  They believe we are here to serve them, and in return we are witness to the entertainment … More Our Kids

Explanation

Just a quick explanation where the name “There’s your safe one,” came from. While playing golf, our group has a tendency to play a scramble at some point. During the most recent trip we were having trouble putting a ball in a good position for our next shot. So, our most consistent player at the … More Explanation

Hawaii – 2006

We were lucky enough to be invited to Hawaii to celebrate Mom and Dad’s 35th wedding anniversary. As this was the second time I had been to Hawaii we didn’t do as many touristy things as before. We did however visit the USS Arizona memorial again. This time we also took a tour of the … More Hawaii – 2006

So, in 2008 we came up with the great idea of taking a guy trip for a long weekend of golf.
