Sometimes I feel I haven’t taken advantage of living in close proximity to so many great golf courses. It’s about an hour and half from my place to the Pinehurst area. So I decided to get out and check out the newly renovated Southern Pines Golf Club. This is a Donald Ross design that was recently purchased by the folks at that own Pine Needles and Mid Pines Golf Clubs and renovated by Kyle Franz. Check out the information about their renovation on their website. I had never played here before the renovation, so I have no basis for comparison. We really enjoyed the layout and the conditions were really good.
