On Black Friday, while everyone was out shopping, I decided to pop down to Southern Pines and play at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club. Such an excellent Donald Ross design that will be hosting the 2022 Women’s U.S. Open. Pretty windy the day I played but a really enjoyable course that would be one of my first choices on my next visit. In January I found myself with a free weekend, so I went next door from Pine Needles and played another Donald Ross gem at Mid Pines Inn & Golf. This was a great course as well. Together with Southern Pines Golf, you can’t go wrong with any of these.
