7 Iron Whiff Golf Trip 2026 – Verona, NY

The annual 7 Iron Whiff Golf Trip for 2026 was in Verona, NY at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino (shout out to Kyle and Jack who took care of getting us all booked, it was quite a challenge as our lineup was in constant flux). We started off by arriving just after the area was hit with some massive rain storms. Eric, Tyler and I arrived early in Syracuse with hopes of getting a pre-round in before meeting up with everyone. Dr. Matt was scheduled to join us but couldn’t get out of Missouri in time.

So the three of us took in a Syracuse Mets game and then crashed out, ready for our pre-round the next day. Well…more rain overnight washed out our intended pre-round. We made some desperate phone calls to try and find somewhere that was open…no luck. We then headed off to Verona to meet up with everyone. I made one more phone call and the folks at Casolwood Golf Course were open and had a spot available for us. We appreciated them getting us on, but the course was WET! We did our best to get our round in because any golf is better than working, right! Once we made it to Turning Stone, we were able to play their 9-holer Pleasant Knolls. This should have been a clue as to how tough their courses are.

Eventually everyone made it to NY, with Liam stuck in Belize an extra day, he missed out on playing Shenendoah. All the courses were in great shape and very challenging. I would love to make it back someday and get another shot at all of them. We sprinkled in a little site seeing to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and had lunch at the Ommegang Brewery outside Cooperstown. I can’t say enough nice things about the folks working at the HOF and Ommegang.
